FedEx Express Swiss Post, a joint venture between FedEx Express and Swiss Post, has officially opened a new facility in Gossau, in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. The opening follows approximately one year of construction and comes after the launch of a similar site in Dällikon in autumn 2023, signaling continued investment in Swiss logistics infrastructure.

The new Gossau location is designed to strengthen the company's presence in eastern Switzerland and support future growth, particularly in e-commerce. The facility consolidates the operations and administration of previous sites in Wängi and Münchwilen. Around 35 employees and about ten partner couriers now work in a modern environment covering approximately 14,500 square meters. The parcel hall occupies over 3,600 square meters, with an additional 400 square meters dedicated to office space.

Equipped with three loading docks for trucks and 40 for vans, the site is optimized for regional delivery and collection. The sorting capacity at Gossau is more than 30 percent higher than in previous setups, enabling faster and more efficient handling of shipments.

Environmental considerations were included in the facility’s design. The roof features a photovoltaic system covering about 3,400 square meters, providing a rated output of 730.8 kW/h. Inside the parcel hall, infrastructure has been installed to charge electric vans, and some of the excavated material from construction was recycled and reused in the building’s foundation.

“Our goal is to support our customers in growing their businesses and provide them with an optimal service experience,” said Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Benelux at FedEx. “The new location fully meets the increasing demands of modern transport services.”

Ron Willemsen, Managing Director Ground Operations Benelux, Switzerland & Austria, added: “I am pleased that our employees find a modern working environment at the new location. The team works every day with great commitment so that our customers in eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein have the best conditions for their imports and exports and can take advantage of growth opportunities.”

FedEx Express Swiss Post offers a wide range of time-definite transport services, including overnight deliveries to the United States, shipments to more than 50,000 postal codes across Europe, and door-to-door shipping within Switzerland.
