Breeze Airways announced on Tuesday that it will make significant changes to its Breezy Rewards program starting next year. The airline will introduce elite status tiers for the first time, expanding the ways members can earn and use rewards.

The current rewards system allows customers to earn Breeze points, valued at one cent each, for every dollar spent on flights and add-ons. Points are earned based on fare type, ranging from 1 to 5 points per dollar. These points can be redeemed toward flights or add-ons, including taxes and fees, and will continue to expire after 24 months.

The updated program adds four elite tiers: Breezy 1, Breezy 2, Breezy 3, and Breezy Club. Tier qualification is based on annual spending. For example, reaching the first tier requires earning at least 15,000 Breeze points in a qualifying year. Benefits at this level include a confirmable Bundle Upgrade each year, a 25% boost in point earnings, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Higher tiers offer additional choices through "Breezy Select Benefits," which include more Bundle Upgrades, bonus points, or a Buddy Discount—similar to companion coupons offered by other airlines but with more flexibility since it does not have to be assigned to one person.

Bundle Upgrades may be used anytime after booking and are confirmed immediately. It remains unclear if these upgrades apply to all premium seats available.

A key feature of the Buddy Discount is its flexibility; unlike programs such as Southwest's Companion Pass that require designating a single travel companion in advance, Breeze's benefit applies to any extra passenger included in the reservation.

"Part of what makes flying with Breeze so enjoyable is the freedom our Guests have to create their own adventure," said Lukas Johnson, chief commercial officer at Breeze Airways. "When building Breezy Rewards, we wanted to create a program that would give our Members that same flexibility while still being inclusive and accessible so everyone can benefit."

Customers who hold the airline’s cobranded credit card—the Breeze Easy Visa Signature Credit Card issued by Barclays U.S.—may also receive further benefits tied into the revamped program. However, no final details were shared as part of this announcement.

Breeze Airways began operations in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its business model focuses on nonstop flights between smaller markets lacking direct connections from other airlines. Initially using leased Embraer E190 and E195 aircrafts,Breeze now operates its own fleet of Airbus A220 jets, featuring Wi-Fi access and first-class seating options. The airline has phased out all E195s but continues operating some E190s.

In 2024 alone, Breeze expanded rapidly by adding service in 29 new cities with a total of 88 additional routes.
