Cathay Cargo has announced it is the first airline to provide real-time customs clearance updates to customers using the EzyCargo platform or those connected via ONE Record API links. This development is based on the IATA ONE Record data protocol and brings customs authorities into Cathay Cargo’s real-time communications with its customers.
Many customs authorities require pre-load advanced cargo information (PLACI), and shipments cannot be loaded until approval is granted by the destination authority. After arrival, another approval layer is often needed before shipments are released. With this new system, customers can now see live messages about their shipment’s status.
The current rollout covers customs clearance statuses from authorities in Europe (ICS2 Import Control System), the United States, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. These statuses are classified as ONE Record “Logistic Events,” letting customers know if their shipment is pending, under assessment, permitted to load, or being held for inspection.
