In the first half of 2026, scheduled Airbus A380 flights from the United States to Europe are set to decline by 31% compared to the same period in 2025. Data from Cirium Diio shows that there will be 1,078 A380 departures in early 2026, down from 1,552 a year earlier.
British Airways, Emirates, and Lufthansa remain the only airlines operating the double-decker aircraft on transatlantic routes. While British Airways is reducing its A380 operations by 14%, Lufthansa's reduction is more significant at 80%. However, this sharp drop may not reflect final plans.
When reviewing Lufthansa’s schedule submission, it appears that "currently, Lufthansa has only scheduled the A380 service to the US in January and March. Not in February or the summer." The airline did not use the A380 for US flights in February 2025 either. Flights using this aircraft type are expected to increase during peak travel months once schedules are finalized.
