Business class travel on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has evolved as airlines seek to attract passengers willing to pay for a more comfortable and private experience. Many carriers are moving away from first class and enhancing their business class cabins, introducing features such as suites, direct aisle access, and personalized amenities.

Qantas offers 42 Vantage XL business class seats on its Boeing 787-9 in a 1-2-1 configuration. The seats feature a silver shell design, charcoal gray upholstery, and wood-like panels. Each seat has individual air nozzles, storage, a device shelf, mirror, and individual lighting. The seat is 23 to 24 inches wide, has a 42-inch pitch, and can be converted into an 80-inch flat bed. Qantas provides a cotton duvet, European-style pillow, adjustable headrest and footrest, a 16-inch entertainment screen, pajamas, and an amenity kit.

Etihad Airways’ upgraded Business Studio on the Boeing 787-9 includes 28 seats with a dovetail design, offering both forward and rearward-facing options. The fully flat bed is 73 inches long and 22 inches wide, furnished with Armani Casa linen. The studio has a privacy door, and the middle seats can form a larger studio. Passengers have access to an 18.5-inch touchscreen monitor, noise-canceling headphones, WiFi, USB ports, and wireless charging. Dining is à la carte, with options for healthy meals, and amenity kits are by Giorgio Armani. The seat also includes massage functions and multiple storage options.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) features a staggered arrangement of lie-flat seats on its Boeing 787-9, providing direct aisle access for all passengers. The seat pitch is 59 inches with a width of 21.5 inches. Amenities include a large side table, folding table, USB charging, power outlet, and an 18-inch LCD 4K touchscreen monitor. ANA provides feather-down comforters, two-layer pillows, and a three-layer mattress for sleeping comfort. The airline also offers unique touches such as aroma cards and foot rollers.

Japan Airlines’ Sky Suite III business class on the Boeing 787-9 is arranged in a reverse herringbone layout, ensuring direct aisle access. The seat converts into a fully flat bed with a pitch of 70 inches and a width of 20.1 inches. Features include a privacy door, ample legroom, storage space, a 23-inch monitor, Wi-Fi, USB ports, and noise-canceling headphones. Amenity kits are provided by HERALBONY, and the menu offers chef-designed meals and fine wines.

American Airlines has introduced the Flagship Suite on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering 51 suites in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each suite has chaise longue-style seating, an adjustable headrest pillow, privacy door, reading light, mirror, and trinket tray. The seat is 21 inches wide and extends to 79 inches when reclined. The suite provides wireless charging, USB-C ports, AC power, Bluetooth connectivity for personal headsets, and a 17-inch 4K touchscreen entertainment system. The Flagship Suite service includes a curated multi-course meal, amenity kit by Brandon Blackwood, and access to priority services such as check-in and lounge access on international flights. Additionally, there are eight Flagship Preferred Suites offering more space for those who require it.

These developments reflect the ongoing trend among airlines to enhance business class offerings and provide a premium experience on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
