The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced that its Wings of Change Europe (WOCE) event will take place at the Steigenberger Icon Wiltcher's Hotel in Brussels. The conference aims to address the role of aviation in Europe's economic development and regulatory environment.
Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General, said, "Three decades ago, de-regulation sparked a revolution in air transport that turned the European project into a community and catalyzed economic growth. The mission of WOCE this year is to inspire Europe’s policymakers to boldly seize the day, rediscover the potential for aviation to stimulate the continent’s economy, and free its airlines from onerous regulation accumulated over 25 years."
The event will feature speakers from both political and industry backgrounds. Among those representing political and regulatory bodies are Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism at the European Commission; Jan Jambon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Pensions for Belgium; Hugo Espirito Santo, Secretary of State for Infrastructure in Portugal; Andrey Novakov, Member of the European Parliament; Dolors Montserrat, Vice Chair of the European People’s Party; Filip Cornelis, Director of Aviation at DG MOVE within the European Commission; Florian Guillermet, Executive Director at EASA; and Elisabeth Kotthaus, Deputy Director and Head of Unit at DG Move.
