Alaska Airlines halted all departures nationwide on Thursday evening due to a technology outage, causing disruptions across its network. The issue, which began shortly after 7:20 p.m. EDT, affected both Alaska's mainline flights and those operated by its regional subsidiary Horizon Air.
A spokesperson confirmed that Hawaiian Airlines, although under the same parent company as Alaska, was not impacted by the outage since it operates as a separate brand.
The disruption threatened to cause delays at several major West Coast hubs, including Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. In a statement posted to social media, Alaska Airlines said: "We apologize for the inconvenience. If you're scheduled to fly tonight, please check your flight status before heading to the airport."
