ITA Airways has announced on the social media platform X that it has reported illicit activity to authorities. The airline reminded customers that all official promotions are available only through its verified website, app, social media, and newsletter.

According to ITA Airways, the airline confirmed it had "reported to the Authorities to stop this illicit activity," referring to a fraudulent or phishing initiative falsely using the airline’s branding. The message added that "all ITA Airways promotional initiatives take place only and exclusively through the Company’s official channels (site, APP, social channels, newsletter)." This communication serves as both a security warning and consumer assurance of the authenticity of ITA’s verified marketing platforms.

In a follow-up post by ITA Airways on X, the airline clarified that "the activity is NOT a promotional activity of ITA Airways and is a potential fraudulent data acquisition (phishing) action." This acknowledgment highlights a wider issue in aviation marketing where unauthorized entities attempt to imitate official campaigns to collect consumer data. The decision by ITA Airways to publicly denounce the fraud underscores its commitment to passenger cybersecurity and data integrity.
