United Airlines has announced the introduction of Starlink Wi-Fi on its first mainline aircraft, providing high-speed internet access for streaming, gaming, and live content. This service is offered free of charge to MileagePlus members and ensures connectivity from gate to gate.
According to United Airlines' post on X, "Lightning-fast Starlink Wi-Fi is now on board our first mainline aircraft," offering continuous connection from boarding through landing. The post emphasizes capabilities such as live streaming, sports, gaming, and even monitoring home pet cams mid-flight. This reflects a new level of in-flight connectivity and is part of United’s digital transformation and passenger experience upgrades.
The airline's official newsroom reports that the partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink delivers satellite-based Wi-Fi capable of supporting high-bandwidth activities on multiple devices simultaneously. The report confirms that Starlink connectivity, already installed on over half of United’s regional fleet, is now extending to its mainline aircraft, with plans for full-fleet integration in the coming months. The service offers speeds up to 100 Mbps, supporting uninterrupted streaming and VPN usage at no additional cost for MileagePlus members.
