ANRA Technologies announced on August 14 that, using multiple drones to inspect power lines, it has “displayed the advanced features of its [Mission Management] software, including real-time monitoring, tracking of multiple simultaneous drone operations, and streaming video feeds—all coordinated by ANRA’s airspace management capability.”

Garmin announced today it has received certification for its runway occupancy awareness (ROA) software, Surface Indications and Alert (SURF-IA). The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released the results of a special investigation involving more than 500 accidents between 2010 and 2022. The study focused on commercial operations involving commuter air carriers, air tour operators, air ambulance services, on-demand business charter flights, and other operations. The NTSB reported it launched the investigation in 2022 following “a cluster of safety issues” involving Part 135 operators. The initiative did not include Part 121 major airline operations.

An ATR 72 regional airliner crashed in a residential area approximately 50 miles north of Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Friday. The incident resulted in the deaths of all 58 passengers and four crew members aboard. The flight was operated by Voepass Linhas Aereas and was reportedly inbound for landing at Sao Paulo when the crew ceased responding to air traffic control at around 17,000 feet.

A Renegade Air Dash-8 with 38 passengers and crew aboard made a successful belly landing after the gear was mostly torn off when it struck a dyke on takeoff from Maban in South Sudan. With portions of the long gear struts dangling from the nacelles, the aircraft continued to Malakal. The plane went into a holding pattern at Malakal to burn off fuel, and all 38 people were evacuated from the plane when it finished its slide.
