United Airlines announced the launch of its first two new summer routes, offering nonstop service from New York/Newark to Split, Croatia, and Bari, Italy. The carrier said flights to Split will operate on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, while flights to Bari will run Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
The announcement says the new routes are part of the airline’s expanded summer international service from its New York/Newark hub, providing direct access to Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast and Italy’s Puglia region.
Newark Liberty International Airport recorded 47 million passengers in 2025, the third-busiest year on record for the facility, according to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. The airport serves as United Airlines’ primary East Coast hub.
Data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics show U.S. airlines carried 68.2 million systemwide scheduled service passengers in February 2026. Carriers are expanding route networks to meet demand with new seasonal international flights from major hubs, expanding transatlantic options for American travelers.
United Airlines is based in Chicago and operates one of the largest airline fleets globally. The carrier has a major transatlantic operation from its Newark hub.
