A United Airlines Boeing 757 lost a tire during takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on July 8, but continued its flight to Denver International Airport (DEN) safely. The aircraft, performing flight UA 1001, departed at 07:15 and landed in Denver at 10:10 without any reported injuries to passengers or ground personnel.

United Airlines has acknowledged the incident and is investigating the cause. "The wheel has been recovered in Los Angeles, and we are investigating what caused this event," the airline stated. The involved aircraft is a nearly 30-year-old Boeing 757-200 with registration N14107, delivered to United in October 1994. It has accumulated over 110,000 flight hours across more than 26,000 flight cycles.

This incident follows several other tire-related issues for United Airlines this year. In March, a United Boeing 777 lost a tire after departing from San Francisco en route to Osaka, Japan. The aircraft diverted to Los Angeles after burning fuel for two hours. Additionally, a United Boeing 737 MAX rolled into the grass after landing at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport in the same month. Another incident involved a stuck rudder pedal on a United 737 MAX upon landing at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Due to these recurring incidents, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) placed United under regulatory observation earlier this year. The FAA is closely examining the airline's operational procedures, manuals, and facilities to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.

Sasha Johnson, United's Vice President for Corporate Safety, commented on the situation: "The incidents caused the airline 'to pause and evaluate whether there is anything we can and should do differently.'"

United Airlines remains under scrutiny as investigations continue into these incidents.
