Neos has initiated a new flight service between Bergamo, Italy, and Amritsar, India. The one-stop route spans approximately 3,700 nautical miles (6,852 km) each way, with a return journey duration of 11 hours and 10 minutes. This marks the airline's fourth route to Amritsar.

Neos is known for its unique approach. While many of its routes cater to tourists, it also operates several services driven by the demand from people visiting friends and relatives. The new Bergamo-Amritsar route utilizes a Boeing 737 and includes a refueling stop in Kazakhstan.

"While Belavia operates Minsk-Delhi on the 737 MAX 8 and Aeroflot Moscow Sheremetyevo-Delhi on the 737-800, Neos has the only 737 (and indeed narrowbody) Western Europe-India scheduled service," noted an aviation analyst.

The inaugural flight took place on July 10 using one of Neos' five Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which seats 186 passengers in an all-economy configuration. Analysis from Flightradar24 indicates that this new route covers around a fifth more distance than a non-stop flight due to specific routing requirements and other operational considerations.

The schedule for this service is as follows:

Bergamo-Aktau: N0376, 10:55-18:35

Aktau-Amritsar: N0376, 19:35-00:15+ (9h 50m to reach India)

Amritsar-Aktau: N0377, 01:45-05:50

Aktau-Bergamo: N0377, 06:50-09:25 (11h 10m back to Italy)

This route primarily serves Punjabis residing in Greater Milan and Northern Italy. Some travelers are expected to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar. "Booking data suggests that approximately 43,000 people flew from Milan and Amritsar last year," according to industry sources.

Neos launched its first Amritsar-bound service during the pandemic in late 2022 with some flights stopping in Tbilisi for refueling. The current network includes:

Bergamo-Amritsar: weekly via Aktau

Milan Malpensa-Amritsar: twice-weekly non-stop with a weekly stopover via Rome Fiumicino

Rome Fiumicino-Amristar: weekly with some flights beginning or ending in Milan

Verona-Amritsar

The Verona service operated until April 2024 but is currently not scheduled or bookable. It remains unclear if it has been replaced by the Bergamo route or will resume at a later date.
