Luxaviation Group, one of the largest business aircraft, helicopter, and FBO network operators worldwide headquartered in Luxembourg, has unveiled its annual 2023 Sustainability Report. The report reflects on Luxaviation’s impact and progress on material environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics, showcasing measures in environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility within the aviation industry.

Luxaviation has been committed to understanding and reducing its global carbon footprint. By expanding greenhouse gas emissions reporting boundaries, investing in advanced technologies, and integrating next-generation aircraft, the company is making steps towards reducing fuel consumption and GHG emissions across its operations.

Patrick Hansen, CEO of Luxaviation Group, stated: “The 2023 Sustainability Report for Luxaviation Group is not just a reflection of our impact and progress but a roadmap for our future. Our commitment goes beyond regulatory compliance, leading by example and inspiring positive change within and beyond the sector.”

Hansen added: “This year has been transformative, reinforcing our steadfast commitment to sustainability and innovation in aviation. In 2023, we made progressive strides in understanding and thereby reducing our environmental impact. Our expanded use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and the electrification of our ground vehicles have set new industry benchmarks for eco-friendly practices. These initiatives are part of our broader goal to transparently lead the industry towards a more responsible future.”

In a move towards reducing ground emissions, Luxaviation has initiated the electrification of its Fixed Base Operator (FBO) Ground Handling Equipment (GHE). This transition to electric GHE minimizes environmental impact and enhances operational efficiency. ExecuJet, part of the Luxaviation Group, has achieved 57% towards its target of GHE electrification by 2030 with its FBO in Paris Le Bourget achieving 100% GHE electrification. The interim target is set at achieving 65% GHE across all ExecuJet FBOs by 2027.

By optimizing energy use and embracing innovation, Luxaviation continues to integrate best practices for more environmentally responsible operations. Rigorous waste reduction strategies aim to reduce single-use plastic bottles and cans across all ExecuJet FBOs by 60% by 2025 with complete elimination targeted by 2026.

Luxaviation also emphasizes social responsibility through robust community and employee engagement programs. The company supports local communities with various initiatives while promoting diversity and inclusion within its workforce.

Luxaviation’s sustainability strategy is reinforced by multi-stakeholder engagement programs and collaborations with industry stakeholders including aircraft manufacturers, regulatory bodies, and environmental organizations. New partnerships include EcoVadis for business sustainability ratings as well as Azzera for sustainability solutions in aviation and Nordic EVTOL Networks for vertiport development in Scandinavia.

The report outlines ongoing initiatives shaped by embedding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Exploration of electric and hybrid propulsion systems along with continued investments in sustainable technologies mark a positive trajectory towards decarbonizing operations by 2030 with an industry target of net-zero emissions by 2050.
