A recent incident at a United Airlines boarding gate has drawn comparisons to Southwest Airlines' boarding procedures. A user by the name of "nabillionairee" posted on Reddit, "When United Airlines looks like a Southwest Airlines boarding gate. Giving GS a run for their money."

In another unusual event, a customs officer reportedly asked, "Is that 100 live snakes in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?" The narrator confirmed it was indeed 100 live snakes.

Alaska Mileage Plan is offering up to 50% off partner redemptions in coach and premium economy to destinations including Guadalajara, Athens, Taipei, Rome, Delhi, and Muscat. This offer is valid for bookings made by July 31 for travel between October 1 and January 31.

American Airlines is running targeted promotions where customers can register by July 22 to earn miles on bookings made between registration and that date for travel in August and October. Examples include earning 2,000 miles for two flights or 5,000 miles for two premium cabin flights.

Clifford Asness expressed his dissatisfaction with hotels eliminating single-use toiletries on Twitter: "This may be what bothers me most about the elimination of single use toiletries – even more than that the bulk dispensers may be tampered with, often aren’t refilled, and are almost certainly never sanitized – is that we’re supposed to like it because hotels lie and say their cost-saving motives are altruistic."

Asness further criticized hotel practices: "Half the things hotels do that they pretend are altruistic are just screw-the-customer stuff under guise of progressivism. Yes, you don’t want to clean the towels and sheets to save the planet. Right."
