Unlock elite status perks across SkyTeam alliance airlines with the Flying Blue status match. Each Flying Blue tier corresponds to a SkyTeam elite status for more benefits. Apply for a status match by checking eligibility and submitting required documents for approval.

One of the most effective strategies to maximize travel benefits is by leveraging status match programs. The Flying Blue status match, part of the loyalty program for Air France and KLM, offers travelers an opportunity to elevate their perks across the SkyTeam alliance.

Flying Blue is the frequent flyer program of Air France and KLM, both members of the SkyTeam alliance. By achieving elite status in the Flying Blue program, members can unlock numerous benefits that extend across the entire SkyTeam alliance, including status matches.

"What’s interesting about this status match is that each Flying Blue tier corresponds to a SkyTeam elite status," allowing reciprocal benefits on 17 other SkyTeam airlines such as Delta and Virgin Atlantic, should your application be approved.

Flying Blue elite status is divided into several tiers, each offering increasingly valuable perks on Air France and KLM flights as well as across the SkyTeam network. According to Flying Blue, some of these benefits include:

**Silver:**

- Earn 6 miles per Euro spent

- Priority check-in, baggage drop, and boarding

- Free standard seat selection

- One free extra checked bag on SkyTeam flights

**Gold:**

- Earn 7 miles per Euro spent

- Free access to SkyTeam lounges worldwide with a guest

- SkyPriority: priority access throughout the airport

**Platinum:**

- Earn 8 miles per Euro spent

- Free access to seat options

- Platinum Service Line for dedicated help

Flying Blue also has two other tiers: Explorer (entry-level) and Ultimate (highest level). Neither are eligible for status matching but offer their own set of perks.

Applying for a Flying Blue status match requires an existing account with Flying Blue. Those without an account can enroll at FlyingBlue.com. Next, check your eligibility against current frequent flyer programs like Aer Lingus AerClub or American Airlines AAdvantage. Proof of current elite status and a valid government-issued ID may be required.

When ready to submit an application, visit the Flying Blue Status Match website and complete the form. Note that application fees vary by tier and region of residence. According to AwardWallet, this program became available to US residents in June 2024; however, US-based Platinum-equivalent members from other programs can only match up to Silver or Gold.

The approval process may take up to three business days. Successful applicants will receive email confirmation once approved and enjoy Flying Blue perks for 12 months.

Participating airlines include Air France, KLM, Transavia, Aircalin, Kenya Airways, TAROM under ownership of Air France-KLM in Europe.
