Audio Authority, a U.S.-based leader in electronics design and manufacturing since 1976, has announced the launch of its newest evolution of the White Lightning brand of ground power units – the SmartGPU. Designed to meet the needs of a wide range of general aviation aircraft, from piston-powered planes to mid-size business jets, the SmartGPU aims to set new standards in power, control, safety, and convenience.

For its public debut, the SmartGPU has been selected to power the new Piper M700 Fury at Piper’s EAA AirVenture exhibit (Booth 140). The SmartGPU will provide safe and reliable power through the aircraft’s external power receptacle to energize its advanced Garmin 3000 flight deck systems, lighting, flight control motors, hydraulics, ventilation, and other airframe accessories.

The White Lightning SmartGPU features an advanced user interface with remote operation and control via a mobile device app. It also offers an option for full-time battery maintenance charging.

Initially, two 28V models of the SmartGPU will be offered. The Model S28114 provides up to 114 amperes of 28VDC power and is designed for turboprop and business jet operators. The Model 28054 offers up to 54 amperes at 28VDC and is suited for piston-powered aircraft. Both models come with heavy-duty output cables and input cord sets.

Key features include:

- Intelligent Connectivity: Utilizing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology, operators can remotely monitor and control the SmartGPU using an iOS and Android-compatible mobile app.

- Advanced Metering: Equipped with a 4” TFT display providing real-time digital output metering.

- Enhanced Power: Delivering robust power with models ranging from 54A to 114A at 28 volts.

- Future-Ready Design: Built for scalability and longevity to adapt to future technological advancements.

“We are thrilled to introduce the White Lightning SmartGPU at Oshkosh AirVenture. We believe it represents a significant leap forward in technology,” said Jonathan Sisk, founder and president at Audio Authority. “The ability to monitor and operate the GPU unit remotely gives aircraft owners peace of mind knowing that their aircraft is in optimal condition.”

Initially available in two models – a 3200W unit (114A @ 28 volts) and a 1500W unit (54A @ 28 volts) – both share a common chassis and feature set.

“With its unparalleled features and capabilities," concluded Sisk "the SmartGPU is poised to revolutionize ground power operations for higher performance aircraft."
