Kompass Kapital has acquired a controlling stake in Airshare, becoming the majority owner of the private aviation company. The investment is expected to expand Airshare's geographic footprint and fleet, with existing investors maintaining active roles. Patrick Mahomes serves as an ambassador for Airshare, which offers jet cards and fractional ownership services.

On Tuesday, July 16, Airshare announced that Kompass Kapital, a private equity group based in Kansas City, Kansas, had taken a controlling stake in the company. Airshare is based in Lenexa, a suburb of Kansas City. The fractional ownership and jet card provider also utilizes Patrick Mahomes as a major ambassador.

Bradley Berger, Managing Partner of Kompass Kapital, commented on the acquisition: "We are very excited to partner with Airshare, where we join a talented team dedicated to serving the private aviation needs of business and leisure customers both domestically and internationally."

Berger mentioned that Kompass Kapital agreed with Airshare's executive team's plans to continue expanding the company's geographic footprint and growing its fleet. Kompass Kapital intends to ensure that previous investors remain in an ownership position after the transaction. Airshare will be added to Kompass Kapital's portfolio of investments, which includes real estate, partnerships, and public equity.

John Owen, CEO of Airshare, also expressed enthusiasm about the new investment: "We are thrilled to have Kompass Kapital join the Airshare ownership group and strongly believe its investment will have a material impact on our future. When we made the decision to raise capital in support of our strategic goals, we were diligent in defining the ideal partner for us, both professionally and culturally."

Owen noted that it would be straightforward for Kompass Kapital to become the majority owner due to its existing partnership with other investors in Airshare.

Airshare was founded in Lenexa, Kansas in 2000. The company offers jet cards providing ten days of annual access; if members wish to fly more frequently, fractional ownership rates begin at twenty days of annual access. This allows members flexibility within their day-to-day schedules.

Since last summer, NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes has acted as lead ambassador for Airshare. Mahomes is a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL MVP who plays for the local Kansas City Chiefs.

Last year, Airshare expanded its services by acquiring Wheels Up's aircraft management business. Currently operating a fleet of Embraer Phenom 300s and Bombardier Challenger 350s along with managing various aircraft through its recent acquisition from Wheels Up.
