Hyatt is in talks to acquire Standard Hotels. Discussions are in "advanced stages" but have not been finalized.

The first Standard Hotel property, The Standard Hollywood, opened on Sunset Boulevard in 1999 and closed during the pandemic. The original investors included Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, and Benicio del Toro.

Current Standard Hotels locations include New York's Meatpacking District and East Village; Miami Beach; London; Maldives; Ibiza; and Hua Hin.

In recent years, Hyatt has acquired Two Roads Hospitality (including Alila, Thompson, Destination Hotels), Apple Leisure Group, the me and all hotels brand from Lindner Hotels, and the Mr & Mrs Smith booking platform.

Generally speaking, these acquisitions have been positives for Hyatt by growing their footprint and making their loyalty program more attractive. The only clear exception is Mr & Mrs Smith because it resulted in the loss of their SLH Hotels partnership which was better for customers. Additionally, Hyatt has lost its MGM partnership to Marriott.
