Qatar Airways unveiled its new Qsuite business class seats at the Farnborough Airshow, marking one of the more elaborate presentations on the first day of the event. The airline's new chief executive introduced the updated Qsuite on a large turntable, accompanied by an AI flight attendant displayed on a screen and several real-life flight attendants.

The new Qsuite features several updates but does not significantly alter the overall business class experience. "In look and feel, the new Qsuite is very much like the old Qsuite, except taller," noted John Walton.

One noticeable change is the height of the doors, which are now 56 inches compared to the previous 52 inches. This increase provides greater privacy for passengers. Additionally, there is more space in this version due to its deployment on the wider cabin of the 777X aircraft.

Another key update involves inflight entertainment screens from Panasonic Avionics’ Astrova line. These 22-inch OLED screens can be folded away by crew members, allowing passengers in certain seat configurations to face each other and dine together or watch shows at a 90-degree angle to the screen.

However, some aspects of these changes have drawn criticism. Walton observed that "the moving monitor assembly is, frankly, clunky" and suggested that further design iterations could improve its refinement.

The suite also includes additional storage options such as two drawers—one functioning like a hotel safe—and standard amenities like wireless charging and various plug sockets.

Regarding materials used in construction, Walton pointed out that many surfaces felt overly reliant on thermoplastics. Despite this, some elements like Kydex Lumina thermoplastic above headrests were praised for their aesthetic appeal under cabin lighting conditions.

Although Qatar Airways did not disclose the manufacturer of these new suites during the event, it was noted that executives from Adient Aerospace were present. It is understood that Adient Aerospace is producing these seats based on Qatar's intellectual property in collaboration with Acumen designers. This marks a shift from Collins Aerospace, which manufactured the original Qsuite.
