United Airlines has been promoting significant deals on award travel this week, featuring a different mystery destination each day with sale prices available only for that day. The destinations have now been revealed ahead of schedule.

The discounts apply to coach class, offering 10,000 miles savings each way (15,000 miles off each way for co-brand credit card customers). Cardholders and elite members also have access to more space.

On Monday, the deal is Australia at 40,000 miles each way. This discount is available for saver award travel from August 5, 2024, through March 31, 2025, excluding December 19, 2024 – January 9, 2025. Despite the discount, some argue it is not much of a deal compared to paid tickets.

Tuesday's deal features New Zealand with flights between the US and Auckland or Christchurch starting at 40,000 miles each way in coach. The same blackout dates apply as those for Australia.

Wednesday's deal covers Tahiti. United operates four days a week between San Francisco and Papeete. The discount period mirrors those of previous days.

Thursday's deal is Taiwan with coach awards available at 40,000 miles each way (45,000 for non-cardholders) from August 8 through December 12, 2024.

Friday's deal focuses on Hong Kong with similar mileage requirements and availability dates as Taiwan. Hong Kong has seen changes in its status as a finance center and has faced political challenges impacting its appeal as a destination.

For travelers considering these deals, they represent fewer miles than usual for an award ticket. United no longer imposes cancelation and redeposit fees on awards, allowing for speculative bookings. However, transferring points to United may not be advisable unless topping off an account with just a few thousand miles.
