Florida resident Liliana Goodson, whose pronouns are they/them, was headed to clown school in Sydney. Upon arrival at the airport, they were stopped with a Colt 45 pistol and ammunition in their luggage. They were also carrying squirrel feet, rabbit urine, and a cat spine. The gun was 24-karat gold-plated.

Initially, Goodson claimed to have simply forgotten they had their gun with them. "After all, who hasn’t placed a 24-karat gold gun in their luggage and simply forgotten about it?" However, it is important to note that when charged with a crime, prosecutors can access one's Google searches. Goodson had Googled “Can I carry a gun in my suitcase?” before their flight.

Goodson, who has a concealed carry license in the U.S., added that they were “scared of shooting” the gun but noted that “in L.A. if you just brandish a weapon people will like scatter… I would probably just pistol whip until I got training again.”

Goodson pled guilty to importing the handgun and ammunition.

"American accused of smuggling a 24-carat, gold-plated semi-automatic gun into Sydney, Australia on Sunday unmasked as a heavily inked graphic designer who goes by the alias of 'River'."

Since the arrest, Goodson has been unable to get into clown school. It remains unclear whether this is due to legal troubles or poor clown skills.

Australia takes gun restrictions seriously – though there are more guns in the country than there were before the 1996 National Firearms Agreement.

Americans bringing guns abroad is shockingly common. Often they forget they have the guns or ammunition because they use the same backpacks or duffel bags when traveling that they use daily when shooting. TSA regularly misses these items going through checkpoints. Last year a state senator brought a gun to Hong Kong and wasn’t allowed to leave. Americans also keep bringing guns to Turks and Caicos.
