BAE Systems is leveraging Siemens's expertise to enhance its engineering and manufacturing processes by adopting technology from the Siemens Xcelerator open business platform. The partnership, announced at the Farnborough Airshow 2024, will span five years and involve collaboration through BAE’s FalconWorks research-and-development unit within its Air division.

The joint initiative aims to advance BAE’s strategic plans for future engineering processes and develop a "factory of the future." This effort will build on the recent implementation of Siemens NX software for product engineering and Teamcenter software for product lifecycle management.

The collaboration will extend across multiple international locations, focusing on areas such as sustainability, industrial digitization, and supply chain modernization.

“Collaborations like this help us develop and invest in digital thread-enabling technologies in a much more integrated and seamless way,” said Iain Minton, BAE Systems’ technology capability delivery director. “Siemens understands the complexities of our operating environment, so we can very quickly mature an idea to the point where it is put into practice, for example when we are looking to implement and optimize new engineering, support, or manufacturing capabilities.”
