- Philadelphia to Milan with a Boeing 787-8 starting May 23.

- Philadelphia to Edinburgh with a Boeing 787-8 starting May 23.

- Miami to Rome with a Boeing 777-200 starting July 5.

A representative from American Airlines stated, "In total, the airline will offer more than 70 daily departures to more than 20 transatlantic destinations in summer 2025," including the return of services to Copenhagen, Naples, and Nice.

The addition of these routes aligns with American Airlines' strategy of flying to partner hubs and operating seasonal flights. The new route from Chicago to Madrid is notable as Madrid serves as joint venture partner Iberia’s hub. Additionally, Philadelphia continues its role as American's transatlantic connecting hub.

The Charlotte-Athens route had been anticipated due to social media activity from the Charlotte airport. Meanwhile, New York JFK did not receive any new routes for summer 2025 following the loss of American's partnership with JetBlue and ongoing competition issues highlighted by an anti-trust suit from the Department of Justice.

American Airlines also plans to extend several existing seasonal routes and upgrade aircraft on key international services. These include extending seasons for Dallas–Barcelona; Miami–Paris; Philadelphia–Athens; and Philadelphia–Naples. Upgrades are planned for Dallas-Tokyo Haneda and Narita, Dallas-Shanghai, and Los Angeles-Haneda.
