Avianca has announced that passengers are encouraged to register for the Biomig biometric migration system to avoid lines and delays at participating airports in Colombia.
According to an article by AviaciónLine, the Biomig system at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá allows registered travelers to pass migration controls "in less than 30 seconds," using iris-recognition and self-service machines managed by Migración Colombia. The enrolment is voluntary, free of cost, and open for users over age 12, while minors must be accompanied by a guardian. The system has been installed to reduce queues and improve the passenger experience during peak travel periods.
As detailed in a press release from El Dorado Airport, the registration process for Biomig is completed at designated counters where travelers present their valid passport and register their iris via a biometric camera. Once enrolled, travelers use automatic lanes, significantly shortening processing time compared to standard immigration booths. The document emphasizes that the system increases operational efficiency while maintaining security standards.
