Inflight Dublin, a prominent airline content service provider offering its Everhub-branded wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE) hardware and software, is exploring system integrations with inflight connectivity (IFC) providers to facilitate real-time credit card transactions via Everhub.

The Everhub hardware can operate on battery or aircraft power. Inflight Dublin's Chief Technology Officer David Miller stated, "There is a possibility that if there is connectivity onboard we can interface with that."

Miller disclosed to Runway Girl Network, "We have had conversations with a number of connectivity providers about combining our Everhub product with connectivity when it’s available — whether it’s full connectivity or something like a LEO [Low Earth Orbit satcom]."

In the realm of portable- and aircraft-powered wireless IFE, companies such as AirFi and Bluebox Aviation Systems are leveraging Iridium’s LEO satellite network-supported Certus 100 service to enable cost-effective real-time payments for airlines.

Inflight Dublin has already made significant progress towards future IFC integrations. During the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, the company announced a strategic collaboration with fintech-as-a-service (FaaS) provider Soft Space. This partnership aims to integrate Soft Space's Fasspos point-of-sale (POS) system with Everhub to support e-commerce transactions onboard even in offline environments.

“We’re combining their payment product with our Everhub product so now you can do in-seat ordering,” said Miller. This includes various services from movies and games to onboard retail and food and beverages.

AirAsia X, the long-haul brand of AirAsia, will be the initial client for this integration. The solution will initially be installed on 20 aircraft, with potential expansion across the rest of AirAsia's fleet depending on results.
