At the beginning of the year, there was concern over the expiration date for Hertz benefits associated with Capital One’s suite of Venture cards. The Venture X card offers Hertz Presidents Club status, while the Venture card provides Five Star status.

As noted at the time, this end date had been in place since the benefit's launch three years ago. It was highlighted because Capital One did not want to promise a benefit (Hertz benefits past 2024) that they could not deliver. This caution was attributed to legal advice.

Since the contract extension had not been finalized, Capital One stated:

"We are continuing to find ways to offer unique experiences to cardholders that they are passionate about and can share with friends and family. We are currently in the process of evaluating the benefit, including the potential extension of the benefit, and will be in touch when there are updates."

Capital One has now confirmed that they have extended the Hertz benefit. The top public status tier at Hertz is their Presidents Circle status, which is offered through Venture X. Notably, this status is also available through Mastercard World Elite.

Typically, achieving Presidents Circle status requires at least 15 rentals or spending $3,000 with Hertz. The benefits include upgrades, faster points-earning rates, and better car choices in self-service lanes.

While expectations should be tempered when renting from Hertz even as a Presidents Circle member, it remains advantageous compared to not having any status. Additionally, Hertz often proves cheaper than competitors Avis and National.
