Ongoing hotel strikes have extended to two Hilton-affiliated properties in Boston, with approximately 600 workers now on strike at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza and the Hilton Boston Logan Airport. These strikes are part of a larger movement affecting hotel operations nationwide.

The Hilton Boston Park Plaza, located near key attractions such as Boston Common and Newbury Street, is one of the city's largest and most historic hotels. Meanwhile, the Hilton Boston Logan Airport serves many connecting passengers and flight crews due to its proximity to all terminals at Boston Logan International Airport.

Previous strikes in Boston were brief, lasting only two or three days. However, this current strike wave is intended to continue until a new labor agreement is achieved. Workers involved include housekeepers, front desk agents, cooks, dishwashers, servers, bartenders, bellhops, and door attendants.

Theresa Fiorino, a room service cashier at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport for 29 years, expressed her reasons for striking: "I am fighting for a raise because I currently have two jobs. I can't make it with one. I work up to 70 hours a week," she said in a statement provided by Unite Here. "Going on strike is going to hurt me financially, but I am willing to make that sacrifice together with my co-workers. We are a team, and we are ready to show the hotel companies that we mean business."

Strikes are also occurring in other U.S. cities like Honolulu, San Diego, and San Francisco as local Unite Here chapters negotiate for higher wages and better working conditions following the expiration of many hotel labor contracts on August 31.

Major brands such as Hilton and Hyatt have stated there are contingency plans to minimize disruptions during strikes. Nonetheless, Unite Here cautions guests that services may be suspended while hotels operate with reduced staff.

Picket lines will be active outside affected hotels around the clock each day. Travelers planning stays at either the Hilton Boston Park Plaza or the Hilton Boston Logan Airport should contact their hotel ahead of time if they require specific services during their visit.
