Delta Air Lines has initiated a fare cap for new bookings as of October 6, in anticipation of Hurricane Milton. This measure is aimed at assisting passengers who are seeking to leave areas expected to be impacted by the storm. The capped fares apply to twelve cities in Florida and vary depending on the distance flown.
In addition to the fare cap, Delta is increasing flight availability by deploying additional flights and larger aircraft where feasible, including operations at Sarasota-Bradenton Airport (SRQ).
For those with existing reservations, Delta offers flexibility by waiving fare differences for changes or cancellations through a travel waiver. The airline emphasizes that "the safety of Delta’s people and customers is of paramount concern," as it coordinates with local officials regarding potential delays or cancellations. Flight schedules will resume after thorough assessments of local infrastructure and conditions post-storm.
