The Tampa Bay area and other parts of Florida's Gulf Coast are preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Milton. Travelers planning to visit the region in the near future are advised to stay informed about weather conditions and any potential changes to their reservations, as this storm is predicted to be one of the most powerful to hit Florida in a century.

Major hotel groups have been contacted regarding their policies and closures ahead of Hurricane Milton's expected landfall later this week. Those with bookings at hotels in the storm's projected path should reach out directly to those properties for specific information on possible closures or service disruptions.

For Floridians evacuating their homes, emergency accommodation modules have been set up on Expedia and Priceline. These provide real-time availability and lodging resources for both residents and visitors affected by the hurricane.

According to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' office, arrangements have been made with the hotel industry to waive or relax no-pet policies so that evacuees can bring their pets safely with them to hotels throughout the state.

A Hilton spokesperson stated, "Hilton is closely monitoring Hurricane Milton with the safety and security of our guests and Team Members as our top priority." Hilton properties in the storm's projected path are implementing preparedness plans and remain in contact with local authorities. Guests whose travel plans may be impacted by Hurricane Milton could have modification and cancellation penalties waived. For updates, guests are encouraged to visit Hilton.com or call 1-800-HILTONS.

An IHG Hotels & Resorts spokesperson noted, "As Hurricane Milton progresses, IHG continues to prioritize the safety and comfort of our guests and colleagues." Some IHG branded properties along Florida's coast are closed due to mandatory evacuation notices but will reopen when deemed safe. Other properties remain open for recovery workers and those seeking shelter. IHG is requiring all hotels in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina to welcome pets free of charge during this time. Cancellation fees will also be waived for guests wishing to change their reservations.

Guests are encouraged by IHG to contact hotels directly for confirmation on bookings, property status, and service availability.

Representatives from Hyatt, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and Choice Hotels did not respond before publication; however, updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
