Federal Express Corporation, conocida como FedEx, ha anunciado el inicio de un nuevo vuelo que conectará Miami, Guatemala y Honduras. Este servicio proporcionará una capacidad de carga diaria de hasta 52,000 libras y mejorará la conectividad para las empresas centroamericanas en sus operaciones de importación y exportación hacia Estados Unidos y otros destinos internacionales.

El vuelo será operado por un avión Boeing 757 propiedad de FedEx y tendrá una frecuencia de cinco días a la semana. La ruta comenzará en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Miami, pasará por el Aeropuerto Internacional de la Aurora en Ciudad Guatemala y concluirá en el Aeropuerto Internacional Ramón Villeda Morales en San Pedro Sula, Honduras, antes de regresar a Miami. Con esta iniciativa, FedEx establece su presencia directa en Honduras por primera vez.

“Este nuevo vuelo reafirma el apoyo y compromiso de FedEx con Centroamérica y su crecimiento económico”, afirmó Basil Khalil, vicepresidente de operaciones de FedEx para el Caribe y América Central. “Expandir nuestra presencia y servicios en Honduras nos permite estar más cerca de nuestros clientes y ofrecerles un mayor apoyo en sus necesidades de transporte internacional”.

Con este nuevo servicio aéreo y un equipo dedicado localmente, FedEx busca atender a industrias hondureñas clave que están incrementando su participación en el mercado internacional. Estos sectores incluyen los automotriz, cafetalero y textil. Además, se enfoca también en productos nostálgicos. Un informe del Banco Central de Honduras (BCH) destacó que la exportación de productos como refrescos, frituras (churros), rosquillas, productos lácteos y frijoles molidos alcanzó los 29.8 millones de dólares durante 2023.

Desde 1997, FedEx ha facilitado el comercio en Honduras mediante soluciones internacionales ofrecidas a través del participante global Agencia Naviera Guticia. Esta agencia continuará brindando servicios como operaciones de recogida y entrega.
