Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new passenger service to Port Sudan, a key city on the Red Sea in the Republic of Sudan. The inaugural flight took off from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport after a ceremony attended by delegates from Sudan and Ethiopian Airlines executives.

This new route is part of Ethiopian Airlines' efforts to enhance connectivity across Africa, promoting regional economic growth and boosting trade and tourism. "We keep growing our network in Africa to provide seamless air connectivity while fostering commerce and tourism within the continent and beyond," said Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines. "With the launch of this flight today, we are opening a new chapter of connectivity in East Africa and the entire continent."

Port Sudan becomes Ethiopian Airlines' second destination in Sudan, alongside Khartoum. The airline will offer daily services to Port Sudan, connecting it with over 139 destinations worldwide.

The addition of this route underscores Ethiopian Airlines' commitment to expanding its presence across Africa while improving travel options for both business and leisure passengers. Travelers can now book flights to Port Sudan through Ethiopian Airlines’ digital platforms or their preferred travel agents.

Ethiopian Airlines is recognized as one of Africa's leading carriers with an extensive network that spans more than 150 domestic and international destinations. It operates one of the youngest fleets globally, featuring aircraft such as Boeing 737s, 777s, 787s, Airbus A350-900s, and De Havilland Q400s.

The airline follows a multi-hub strategy with hubs in Lomé (Togo), Lilongwe (Malawi), and Lusaka (Zambia). Having met its Vision 2025 goals ahead of schedule, Ethiopian is now implementing Vision 2035 to become one of the top aviation groups worldwide. The airline has won numerous awards including Skytrax’s ‘Best Airline in Africa Award’ for seven consecutive years.
