Brett Catlin, Vice President of Loyalty, Alliances and Sales at Alaska Airlines | Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines is set to enhance its Mileage Plan in 2025, introducing new benefits and options for members. The airline aims to make it easier for members to achieve elite status by offering more ways to earn elite-qualifying miles (EQMs). Starting in January, members can earn EQMs through award travel redemptions, credit card purchases, and other activities.

Brett Catlin, Vice President of Loyalty, Alliances and Sales at Alaska Airlines, stated: “We’re on a multi-year journey to make the industry’s most generous loyalty program even more rewarding. In 2025, Mileage Plan members will have access to all-new, more frequent perks along with expanded ways to earn elite status, including on award travel."

As part of the changes, Alaska Airlines will introduce a single loyalty program with Hawaiian Airlines following their combination. Members can currently transfer miles between Alaska and Hawaiian accounts at no charge and purchase flights from both airlines on either website.

In 2025, as members accumulate EQMs, they can select perks when reaching various milestones starting at 10,000 EQMs. These perks include bonus miles, lounge access, rollover EQMs, and access to exclusive events. Additional milestones occur at higher levels of EQMs.

The program allows earning EQMs through different means such as flying on award trips or using the Alaska Airlines Visa® card. Cardholders will receive one EQM for every $3 spent on qualified purchases up to 30,000 EQMs annually.

Alaska Airlines partners with 30 domestic and international airlines within the oneworld Alliance. The company plans to streamline how miles are earned and redeemed with these partners in 2025. This includes simplified mile earning with global partners and introducing multi-carrier redemptions for travel around the world.

The airline also plans enhancements for member upgrades later in 2025 by prioritizing based on recent and long-term loyalty rather than ticket price.

For further details about these enhancements to the Mileage Plan program or about Alaska Air Group's services across North America and beyond through its subsidiaries including Hawaiian Holdings Inc., Horizon Air and McGee Air Services visit their official websites.
