Emirates has announced a firm order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2026. This new order adds to the airline's existing commitments, bringing the total number of pending deliveries from Boeing to 14 by the end of 2026.

In conjunction with this expansion, Emirates has extended its lease agreement with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise for four Boeing 777 freighters currently in its fleet. By December 2026, Emirates SkyCargo aims to operate a fleet of 21 production-built Boeing 777 freighters, up from its current fleet of 11 units.

The airline is also pursuing plans to convert ten passenger Boeing 777-300ERs into freighters as part of its strategy to increase capacity and grow its fleet.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, stated: “We’re investing in new freighter aircraft to meet surging demand and provide our customers around the world with even more flexibility, connectivity, and options to leverage market opportunity."

He further noted that the rising demand for Emirates' air cargo services highlights Dubai's status as a key global logistics hub. The success of Emirates SkyCargo’s tailored solutions across various industry sectors has contributed significantly to this growth.

Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed appreciation for Emirates' continued trust in Boeing's widebody aircraft. "We are proud to support Emirates SkyCargo’s growth as it relies on the performance and versatility of our 777 Freighter to further connect the world,” she said.

As it expands its freighter operations, Emirates will continue utilizing its all-wide-body passenger fleet for efficient global goods movement. The airline offers a diverse fleet mix including 777s, 777-Fs, 747Fs, A350s, and A380s.

Dubai's government plans to expand Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) into what could become the world's largest hub by capacity. DWC is expected to handle up to 12 million tonnes of cargo annually once completed. This development supports Dubai’s ambition to establish itself as a leading multi-modal cargo hub integrating air, sea, and land connections.
