The American Express Gold Card has undergone a series of updates, adding new features and benefits for cardholders. The changes aim to enhance the card's appeal, particularly for those who enjoy dining out or cooking at home.

Since 2019, the Amex Gold Card offered a $120 dining credit benefit, allowing cardholders to earn up to $10 per month in statement credits when paying with the card at participating partners. As of September 26, 2024, Shake Shack and Milk Bar are no longer eligible merchants. Instead, Five Guys has been added as a new partner. "It's a brand that's more accessible for me and my family," said an Amex Gold Card user from Fort Pierce, Florida.

Additionally, the card now offers new credits aimed at various types of diners. This includes a $100 Resy credit benefit which allows users to get up to $50 back semi-annually when dining at U.S. Resy restaurants or making other eligible purchases after enrollment. The user mentioned having already booked a reservation at a Resy restaurant in Minneapolis and looked forward to using this benefit.

Another addition is the $84 Dunkin' statement credit benefit, offering up to $7 in monthly credits for purchases made at U.S. Dunkin' locations with the Amex Gold Card. The user noted that they had easily utilized this credit due to multiple nearby Dunkin' locations.

Beyond dining benefits, the Amex Gold Card provides travel perks such as $120 Uber Cash and bonus Membership Rewards points on certain travel-related expenses. Despite some changes in earning rates on dining purchases starting January 1, 2025, these adjustments were not considered significant by the user due to their spending habits.

Cardholders can also redeem Membership Rewards points through various travel partners like British Airways and Air Canada Aeroplan for valuable redemptions such as business-class flights.

Currently, there is a limited-time welcome offer available: 60,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $6,000 within six months of membership plus additional statement credits for restaurant purchases during this period.

With these enhancements and continued rewards opportunities, existing users remain satisfied with their Amex Gold Cards while potential applicants may find increased value in its offerings before the welcome offer ends on November 6, 2024.
