Emirates Group and Dubai Airports have published a study conducted by Oxford Economics, highlighting the significant role of aviation in Dubai's economy. The report outlines the direct, indirect, and induced economic activities generated by the sector, as well as its impact on tourism spending.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum emphasized the importance of aviation under the leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He stated: "Dubai’s aviation sector has been a core pillar of our city’s economic growth strategy to date, and it will continue to play a key role in the D33 Economic Agenda."

In 2023, Dubai's aviation sector contributed AED 137 billion (USD 37.3 billion) to gross value added (GVA), accounting for 27% of Dubai's GDP. This included AED 94 billion from core economic impact and AED 43 billion from tourism facilitated by aviation. By 2030, these contributions are expected to rise to AED 196 billion or 32% of Dubai's GDP.

The report also notes that aviation-related activities supported approximately 631,000 jobs in Dubai in 2023, with projections indicating an increase to 816,000 jobs by 2030.

The ongoing expansion at Dubai International and plans for Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International aim to enhance capacity and operations further. The new airport is expected to contribute significantly to GDP and employment upon completion.

Aviation also drives international tourism growth in Dubai. In 2023, visitors spent an estimated AED 66 billion during their stay. Aviation-facilitated tourism contributed AED 43 billion in GVA and supported around 329,000 jobs.

The full Oxford Economics report titled 'The Economic Impact of Aviation In Dubai' provides more detailed insights into these findings.
