Conidia Bioscience has launched a new test kit designed to swiftly identify microbial contamination in jet fuel. The Fuelstat One test offers a comprehensive solution for monitoring fuel quality across the entire supply chain, from storage terminals to aircraft wing tanks.

The lateral flow test is user-friendly and delivers results in under 30 minutes. It can be performed on samples taken from either free water or the fuel phase, detecting various microorganisms. This functionality mirrors that of Covid-19 tests, as it identifies markers of bacteria and fungi that may develop in jet fuel. Such microbial growth can lead to biofilms and sludge, potentially clogging filters and obstructing fuel lines, which could result in engine malfunctions or failures.

An accompanying app supports Conidia's test kit by providing immediate results and creating shareable PDF reports. Users have the capability to manage global testing outcomes with ease.

“After years of development, the introduction of Fuelstat One represents a significant advancement in microbial detection for aviation fuel and redefines the industry benchmark,” stated Jay Patel, Conidia’s head of innovation. “Fuelstat One test kits enable a single person to conduct tests at the tank using just four drops of fuel sample, following step-by-step video test instructions via the app.”
