Several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) secured commercial orders on the second day of the Farnborough Airshow 2024, demonstrating the industry's recovery post-Covid pandemic despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Qatar Airways has confirmed an order for 20 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, expanding its total 777X order to 94. The airline now holds orders for 60 of the passenger version and 34 smaller freighters. "Qatar Airways is the launch customer for the 777-8F," a spokesperson noted. The airline has also ordered 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 25 Boeing 737 Max jets.

Macquarie AirFinance has doubled its existing order book by purchasing an additional 20 Boeing 737-8 aircraft. This purchase was originally acquired from Alafco Aviation Lease and Finance in 2023. "The continued expansion and renewal of our fleet underscores our confidence in the strong future growth prospects of global commercial air transport," said AirFinance CEO Eamonn Bane. This brings their OEM order book to a total of 86 firm aircraft.
