Investing in electric ground handling equipment is a central strategy for Luxaviation, a business aviation services group, as it works to reduce its environmental footprint. According to the company's new sustainability report released on Wednesday, the ExecuJet FBO chain has reached 57% of its target to electrify ramp vehicles and other equipment by 2030.

Luxaviation's interim goal is to have 65% of its ground handling infrastructure electrified by 2027. Notably, its facility at Paris Le Bourget Airport has already achieved full electrification.

The company operates across 140 facilities worldwide and aims to reduce waste and enhance energy efficiency. Luxaviation plans to decrease the use of single-use plastic bottles and cans at ExecuJet FBOs by next year, with a complete phase-out targeted for 2026.

"In 2023, we made progressive strides in understanding and thereby reducing our environmental impact," stated Luxaviation CEO Patrick Hansen. "Our expanded use of sustainable aviation fuel and the electrification of our ground vehicles have set new industry benchmarks for eco-friendly practices."

The report also outlines Luxaviation's intention to support eVTOL aircraft as part of its dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The company seeks to decarbonize operations by 2030 in line with an industry-wide commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.
