Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a significant expansion of its all-inclusive resort portfolio through a new joint venture with Grupo Piñero, the owner of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts and Cayo Levantado Resort brands. The partnership will see Hyatt managing Bahia Principe-branded hotels globally, increasing its all-inclusive offerings by 30%.

Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian stated, "The addition of Bahia Principe's resorts to Hyatt's Inclusive Collection will enhance Hyatt's all-inclusive offering and strengthen our leadership position with one of the largest collections of all-inclusive resorts in the world." He highlighted the alignment in values between Grupo Piñero and Hyatt as a key factor in the collaboration.

The agreement is expected to be finalized soon, building on Hyatt's acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2021. This new venture will incorporate 23 resorts with over 12,000 rooms into Hyatt’s portfolio. These include properties under the Bahia Principe brand located in Mexico, Jamaica, Spain, and the Dominican Republic. Among them is Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, recognized as one of the top all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic.

Additionally, Cayo Levantado Resort in the Dominican Republic is part of this deal. It opened last year and has been praised for its luxury services at competitive rates. The transaction implies potential upgrades for existing resorts: "A majority of the proceeds from this transaction will be leveraged by Grupo Piñero to enhance existing Bahia Principe resorts."

Encarna Piñero, global CEO of Grupo Piñero, commented on the partnership: "For Grupo Piñero, the asset-light long-term strategic joint venture with Hyatt will strengthen Bahia Principe's legacy and represents a clear path to build on its success and growth strategy for the future."

While specifics regarding award redemption categories within World of Hyatt are not yet available, it is anticipated that these new properties will join their loyalty program later.
