Holland America Line has adjusted the itinerary for its 2026 Grand World Voyage on the Volendam, extending the journey by one day due to changes in the latter part of the cruise. The 1,432-passenger ship will now sail for 133 days, departing from Fort Lauderdale on January 4, 2026, and returning on May 17, 2026.

The alteration was prompted by ongoing unrest in the Red Sea region. Consequently, Holland America has replaced planned visits to the Middle East and Europe with additional stops in Asia and Central America. This change means that the Volendam will cross the International Date Line twice during its voyage across the Pacific Ocean.

"When the vessel crosses the invisible IDL — which runs from the North Pole to the South Pole — for the first time heading west, it will skip a day," explained Holland America. "Then, on its way back to Fort Lauderdale to end the cruise, the ship will be heading east across the line, thereby repeating a day."

Despite these adjustments, passengers can still look forward to visiting 51 ports across 23 countries and territories. Highlights include overnight stays in Nagasaki, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, Tahiti, Sydney and a full transit of the Panama Canal.

Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer for Holland America Line stated: "We know immersive experiences in exciting destinations are always a main draw for those choosing a world cruise."

The revised route takes guests south along South America's east coast before crossing into Antarctica. It continues through Easter Island and various South Pacific islands en route to Australia. The ship then visits Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan before crossing back over to Alaska. From there it travels south to Seattle and San Diego before concluding with stops in Central America and Colombia.

Passengers will have access to numerous onboard activities including watercolor instruction, creative writing workshops and dance classes. Evening entertainment features shows dedicated to music legends like Carole King and Fleetwood Mac.

Bookings for this extended voyage open October 30 via Holland America's website or by phone at 1-877-932-4259. Inside cabins start at $30,354 per person for those wishing to experience all 133 days of travel.

For travelers preferring shorter segments of this journey there are six options ranging from 21 to 61 days available beginning January 4th until April 14th with prices starting between $9,074 - $15,934 depending on chosen segment length.

Guests booking early receive benefits such as up-to-$2k onboard credit per person if booked by June next year plus additional discounts when flights arranged through Holland America are included alongside round-trip airport transfers provided free-of-charge too!
