Salt Hotels, a hospitality company based in Provincetown, Massachusetts, is expanding its boutique luxury line-up with two new properties in New England. The company, which already has locations in Miami and Cape Cod and plans for projects in Minneapolis and Mexico, recently opened hotels in Connecticut and Nantucket.

The Abner, located in Litchfield, Connecticut, is a 20-room luxury hotel transformed from the historic Litchfield County Courthouse. This renovation includes a restaurant named the Courtroom, utilizing repurposed judges' benches and jury boxes as seating. David Bowd, co-founder of Salt Hotels, expressed enthusiasm about the project: "We went to Litchfield, and it is like a Hallmark movie set. It is so beautiful," he said. "Restoring these historic buildings is just so much fun."

Designed by Kevin O'Shea, another co-founder of Salt Hotels, The Abner features Verdict—a seasonal rooftop bar offering views of the countryside. Room options range from the Snug to Chamber Suites with amenities such as Further and Palermo Body bath products.

Earlier this year, Salt Hotels also opened The Brant on Nantucket. This property offers 26 rooms and suites within a three-building complex. Guests can enjoy breakfast before relaxing by the pool with drinks or reading material. As Bowd noted: "It's a five-minute walk from the ferry terminal but miles away from the crowds."

Though not part of any major loyalty network yet, Salt Hotels does have some presence on Hyatt's Mr. and Mrs. Smith platform. A spokesperson mentioned efforts to include The Abner and The Brant on World of Hyatt soon.

Rates at The Abner begin at $250 per night while those at The Brant start at $400.
