American Express has introduced a variety of perks for its premium cardholders, but some users find the complexity overwhelming. The Platinum Card® from American Express offers numerous benefits, including up to $50 Saks Fifth Avenue statement credit every six months and up to $20 monthly digital entertainment credits. Other perks include Uber Cash, airline incidental fee credits, and more.

Despite these offerings, some cardholders feel the need for meticulous planning to maximize value. "Although my brain is hard-wired almost to love finding and tracking deals and travel perks," one user notes, "it's bordering on mental fatigue to keep up with all of the different small-to-medium-sized credits."

The growing list of perks requires detailed tracking by cardholders. "When you reach a stage where a spreadsheet is needed... that could be a sign things have gone too far," another comment suggests.

Simpler benefits might be more appealing to some users who prefer straightforward rewards without extensive planning. "Less obsessed people I know... are not about to start switching up which card they use for this," says one user.

Despite these challenges, many still find value in their cards' offerings. Users are encouraged to evaluate which benefits they will actually use before committing to high annual fees.
