FedEx Express Swiss Post, a joint venture between FedEx Express and Swiss Post, has announced plans to open a new facility in Gossau, Switzerland. The construction of the facility is progressing on schedule and is expected to be completed by Autumn 2025. This development aims to accommodate increasing shipment volumes, including those from larger clients.

The new facility will consolidate operations currently spread across two locations in Wängi and Münchwilen. Approximately 35 employees and around ten couriers from business partners will work at the site, which promises a modern working environment.

Located on a plot of about 14,500 square meters, the facility includes 3,600 square meters for operations and warehousing, along with 400 square meters of office space. It features three loading bays for trucks and 40 for vans, enhancing regional delivery capabilities. The sorting capacity at this location is expected to be over 30 percent higher than the current setup.

Sustainability is a key aspect of the new building's design. A photovoltaic system covering approximately 3,400 square meters will contribute to renewable energy generation. Plans also include charging stations for electric vehicles as part of future EV rollout strategies. Environmental considerations have been integrated into the construction process as well.

This investment follows the opening of another significant facility in Dällikon in Zurich during Autumn 2023. "Our mission is to deliver an outstanding service experience to help our customers grow their businesses," said Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux for FedEx. He emphasized that the new facility positions them well to handle additional volume, particularly in e-commerce.

Ron Willemsen, Managing Director Ground Operations Switzerland & Austria added that "the new facility provides a modern working environment for our team members" and enhances service offerings for customers in the region.

FedEx Express Swiss Post offers various time-definite services including overnight delivery to the US and door-to-door delivery within Switzerland.
