Turkish Airlines has reached an agreement with AerCap to lease ten Airbus A321neo aircraft. The details regarding the delivery dates and engine specifications for these aircraft have not been disclosed. Turkish Airlines plans to operate over 800 aircraft and serve more than 170 million passengers by 2033.

Angus Kelly, CEO of AerCap, expressed satisfaction with the deal, stating that it would help Turkish Airlines expand its route network while modernizing its fleet for improved operational efficiency. He also mentioned the intention to establish a long-term partnership with Turkish Airlines.

Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, noted that adding these ten A321neo aircraft aligns with their strategy to provide a modern travel experience and support network growth, including new destinations and increased frequencies.

Previously, in October 2023, Turkish Airlines agreed to lease 28 aircraft from AerCap, including Boeing 737 MAX 8s and Boeing 787-9s, scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2026. They also extended leases on six used Airbus A330-300s.

AerCap manages a fleet of 1,869 aircraft through special purpose vehicles (SPVs), which includes a significant number of A321neos. Among them are unassigned units awaiting operators. Additionally, Thai Airways International is set to receive ten A321neos equipped with CFM International LEAP-1A engines between Q3 2025 and Q2 2026.

Turkish Airlines continues to expand its fleet with orders from both Airbus and Boeing. By December 2023, they had ordered numerous Airbus models alongside recent orders for four Boeing freighters in July.
