Los Angeles World Airports announces three key leadership appointments

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has announced three key appointments aimed at enhancing its operational and cultural framework. John Ackerman, Chief Executive Officer of LAWA, stated, “Mayor Bass and our Board of Airport Commissioners have a vision to transform our airports into a truly world-class experience for our employees, our community and our customers, and these three appointments will help us achieve that goal.” He emphasized the importance of investing in personnel alongside infrastructure improvements.

Marla Bleavins has been appointed as the Chief Airport Administrative Officer. She will manage Human Resources, Commercial Development, Strategic Sourcing, Internal Audit and Ethics, and Risk Management. Her role includes modernizing legacy systems to better support LAWA's staff and community. Ms. Bleavins is currently the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer for the Port of Los Angeles. With over two decades of service in various city departments, she brings extensive experience to her new position at LAWA starting May 6, 2024.

Rob Lowe takes on the role of Chief People and Culture Officer. His responsibilities include overseeing Human Resources, Labor Relations and Business, Jobs and Social Responsibility while building a Talent Development team. Mr. Lowe aims to enhance team culture and improve people systems at LAWA. Previously serving as Vice President of People and Culture for Republic Airways, he has significant experience in human resources leadership within aviation sectors. Mr. Lowe will begin his duties on April 8, 2024.

Becca Doten has been named Chief of Staff with immediate effect. She will provide strategic counsel to the CEO while managing projects with department-wide implications. Additionally, she retains oversight over executive administration along with external affairs functions such as Government Relations and Community Relations. Ms. Doten's tenure at LAWA spans six years in roles including Chief Airport Affairs Officer.

These appointments reflect LAWA’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace environment while preparing for major upcoming events like FIFA 2026 and the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
