United Airlines has launched its first nonstop flights from Houston Intercontinental to Medellín, Colombia. This marks the first time United has flown to Medellín and establishes a new link between Texas and Colombia's second-largest city. The service is operated using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, offering daily flights over the 1,816 nautical mile route.

Houston Intercontinental now offers flights to two Colombian cities for the first time since Cali was removed from Continental's network in 2008. Although the point-to-point market between Houston and Medellín is relatively small with approximately 11,600 roundtrip passengers, the new route is expected to boost traffic due to direct connectivity.

Passengers can also connect through Houston to various other cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Las Vegas, Austin, Denver, and Phoenix. The flight schedule features UA1675 departing Houston at 16:29 local time and arriving in Medellín at 22:05 after a block time of four hours and thirty-six minutes. The return flight UA1676 leaves Medellín at 10:45 local time and arrives back in Houston at 14:38.

In November alone, United Airlines operates an average of 924 daily take-offs and landings at its Houston hub. This makes it United's third-busiest hub following Chicago O'Hare and Denver. United Express regional jets operate a significant portion of these flights.

United controls about 80% of all flights from Houston Intercontinental Airport, making it one of the most dominant hubs in the U.S., with this share increasing to 82% when including all Star Alliance carriers.

The airline's network from Houston includes routes to 151 destinations this month. Ninety-five of these are within the U.S., while international services extend to countries such as Mexico, Honduras, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Germany.
