A Jewish American flight attendant has filed a lawsuit against Delta Air Lines, alleging antisemitic discrimination and retaliation. Roey Segev, who works for Delta as a bilingual crew member fluent in Hebrew and English, claims the airline "engaged in a pattern of intentionally discriminating and retaliating against ethically Jewish and Israeli employees."

Segev, based in Florida, alleges that Delta compromised the safety of its Jewish employees by employing individuals who support Hamas. He states that four colleagues harbor animosity towards Israel but remain employed at the airline. The lawsuit follows an incident after Hamas' attack on Israel in October 2023, where Segev claims some flight attendants showed support for Hamas on social media, allegedly violating Delta's policies.

Employed since 2019, Segev reports satisfaction with his job until January last year when he experienced alleged discrimination. On January 15th, 2023, during a Tel Aviv to New York City flight, Segev accuses a purser of being "demonstrably antisemitic" by referring to passengers as “your people” and reprimanding him for speaking Hebrew. Despite complaints to Delta, Segev claims no response was received.

In another incident on the same route, Segev and another Jewish Israeli flight attendant were reportedly left to manage an allegedly violent passenger without following standard procedures. The lawsuit notes no explanation was provided for this deviation.

These allegations have not been confirmed; they are reported as per the lawsuit. Simple Flying has reached out to Delta Air Lines for comment on these claims.

In September, another Jewish flight attendant named Sasi Sheva also filed a discrimination lawsuit against Delta. Sheva alleges the airline denied his request for time off during Yom Kippur and served him a ham sandwich after refusing his request for vegetarian food before a flight.

Sheva's lawsuit highlights multiple complaints about antisemitic treatment within Delta and similar legal challenges from other staff members.

Earlier this year, Delta revised its uniform policy to ban Palestine flag pins after public backlash when an employee wore one on their uniform. Initially not against regulations, the policy change followed significant public pressure.
