Airport Handling S.p.A has been awarded a seven-year ground handling license at Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) by Aeroporti di Roma. The decision follows the confirmation of the tender process's legitimacy by the Lazio Regional Administrative Court, which dismissed an appeal from an incumbent service provider that had temporarily delayed Airport Handling's operations at FCO.

The company plans to begin offering ramp and passenger services in February 2025, supported by an investment exceeding €20 million in ground support equipment. Some of this equipment has already been delivered to facilitate a smooth start.

To staff its new operations, Airport Handling intends to hire over 1,800 aviation professionals at FCO and will adhere to terms for transitioning staff from the current handler. A local management team with extensive experience in the Rome market is already in place.

Already partnering with over 60 airlines, their teams manage more than 22 million passengers and 82,000 flights annually at Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN). The company is majority-owned by dnata, a global air and travel services provider.
