On October 28, 2024, Xiamen Airlines introduced a new luggage check-through service for passengers traveling from Australia to China via Xiamen. This service allows travelers to purchase a through ticket and complete the luggage check-through process at check-in counters in Sydney or Melbourne. Upon transiting through Xiamen, passengers no longer need to collect and re-check their luggage, retrieving it directly at their final destination.

The service aims to ease the burden of handling heavy luggage and simplify transfer procedures for passengers transferring in Xiamen from Australia to other Chinese cities. It allows travelers more freedom during transit, enabling them to enjoy Xiamen's attractions while waiting for connecting flights.

Mr. Chen, one of the first users of this service, stated: "I often travel from Sydney to Xiamen and then transfer flights when returning home. The thought of having to re-check all that luggage used to dampen my spirits for sightseeing. Now, with the luggage going straight through, and Xiamen Airport being so close to the city center, I can head straight for fun and food as soon as I land, without any delay."

This year has seen an expansion of Xiamen Airlines' "through flight" services at Xiamen Airport. Over 70 domestic and international destinations now offer this feature, benefiting more than 1.14 million passengers. The airline collaborated with various entities including Xiamen Airport Customs and Yuanxiang International Airport to overcome challenges like security scanner upgrades necessary for launching this service.

Xiamen Airlines plans further enhancements at its transit hub by implementing same-day and next-day luggage check-through services for all overseas destinations.
